Sitar Arts Center of DC
As many of you know, SageVest Wealth Management is a strong supporter of the Sitar Arts Center in Washington, DC. Sitar offers a wide range of music, drama, art, writing, and other creative programs for students from Washington, DC, many of whom are from low-income households. SageVest’s ‘Holiday Contribution’ Survey
In addition to our support of Sitar Arts Center, SageVest also directs monetary donations to other charities, based upon feedback from our annual ‘Holiday Contribution’ survey. This year’s winners are as follows:
First Place – The Women’s Center
The runaway winner in this year’s SageVest holiday survey is The Women’s Center. With locations in Vienna, VA, and Washington, DC, The Women’s Center provides low-cost and no-cost mental health counselling, classes and workshops, and community resource liaison to more than 4,000 women, men, children, and families each year. The Women’s Center also provides one of the DC Metro area’s most prestigious training programs for mental health professionals.
Second Place – Second Story (formerly Alternative House)
Second Story transforms the lives of children and youth by providing shelter, counselling, and community support programs to children, teens, at-risk individuals, young parents, homeless youth, and families throughout the Washington, DC area. Founded as Alternative House in 1972, Second Story programs help young people overcome trauma, homelessness, and other life challenges and navigate a path towards empowered adulthood.
Third Place – Bread For The City
Bread For The City is a front-line agency, serving low-income residents of Washington, DC. Its mission is to reduce the burden of poverty for individuals and families through the provision of comprehensive, coordinated support initiatives. These include emergency provision of food, clothing, and medical care, as well as legal, social, and advocacy services to help DC residents survive, thrive, and grow.
